Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy examines the underpinnings of your symptom/ailment and not solely the illness itself. For example; how hormonal imbalances, gut problems or allergies may be having a negative effect on your inability to lose weight. Nutritional therapy takes in consideration, biochemical individuality, lifestyle factors, emotional factors and is person-centred rather than disease centred. Good nutrition is essential in this day and age. Modern farming methods have cause massive soil depletion on the commercial farm acreage upon which we grow most of our foods crops and cereal grains. Therefore, we are not getting the essential minerals and vitamins that we once were, causing havoc on our immune system, not to mention a sense of what a lot of people call “just don’t feel right” My vision and aim is to provide you with a realistic lifelong healthy way of living that can empower you to reach your best potential. As Henri Amiel puts it

“In Health there is freedom – health is the first of all liberties”.

I will devise an individualised programme tailored to your specific needs. BANT (British Association of Nutritional therapy) views health as a positive vitality and not merely the absence of disease (BANT).  Countless people have visited the doctors and had blood results and these can be found to be “normal’, yet you know something is not right.  This is the area of functional medicine, whereby for example your digestive symptom may not be at a diseased state but it is not functioning optimally.

WHY IS IT DIFFERENT:??

It looks at the UNDERPINNINGS/DRIVER of your condition and not solely the result, HOW joint problems, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches may be linked to ALLERGIES/GUT PROBLEMS/BLOOD SUGARS affecting your inability to losing weight as the byproduct.

HOW stress levels can be linked to a dysfunctioning of your adrenals (fight or flight response to stress), which can lower your immune system and have a knock on effect to other areas of your body also.  I can help you deal with stress more efficiently and your body will appreciate it also.

What symptoms/disorders can nutritional therapy help with?

  • Digestive complaints -including IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), constipation, bloating, diverticulitis, IBD (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease) and Candida
  • Weight management
  • Skin health - eczema & acne
  • Hormonal concerns -adrenal & thyroid imbalances, fatigue & low energy
  • Reproductive - PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility, menopause & poor libido
  • Immunity - hayfever, sinusitis, rhinitis, food intolerances , rheumatoid arthritis
  • Skeletal Health – Osteoporosis, Arthritis

Occasional digestive discomfort is very common and can affect your every day life, which is debilitating enough. However, if you are continually unsettled by one or a number of symptoms then it’s time to find out the reason why! Many of the standard pharmaceuticals focus on solely the symptoms. The actual underlying reason why you have a particular symptom and the underlying triggers are largely not taken into account. This condition can be left untreated and this can be merely applying a plaster to the problem. For example; hormonal or gut issues affecting your ability to lose weight.” If a hedgehog has an unfortunate accident with a car, you don’t blame the maggots”. The good news is, nutritional therapy can be highly effective at both uncovering the root cause of many digestive complaints and many other issues. Together with devising a treatment plan combing diet recommendations, supplements and lifestyle, balance and health can be restored.
